NieR Re[in]carnation (ニーア リインカーネーション) is a free-to-play mobile game available on both Android and ios. It was first announced on March 29, 2020. The closed beta ended on August 5, 2020, and was finally released later on July 2021 worldwide.
Players can expect an interesting story-heavy game mode with more text-based user interactions. It’s an RP game that keeps the story alive till the very end.

Storyline
The story of NieR Reincarnation revolves around a girl who wakes up on a cold stone floor. She finds herself in a ghost town filled with buildings that touch the sky.
She’s greeted by a strange magical presence named “Mama” who lives up to the name by fussing over the little girl at every opportunity. She begins to explore her new surroundings. In search of what she lost and to make amends for her sins. She starts her adventure in a ghost town called the cage.
While in the cage the girl has to cleanse various black weapons suspended in the different locations of the game. When she cleanses the weapon there is a short story of the weapons which she sees by being teleported into memories the weapon. The whole game revolves around these short stories and the girl exploring “The Cage”
Gameplay
NieR Reincarnation is divided between open-world exploration and a battle system. Hold and drag the joystick on the touch screen to move the girl to designated spots on the mini-map. The world map is set up in a 3D graphic world.
NPCs are barely available but you’ll encounter some while wandering, character dialogue may occur. In-game cutscenes retain the letterbox effect from previous titles.
The girl’s segment is more of an open-world exploration section (non-combative exploration). The Weapon Story includes cutscenes and battle sequences. Players flip between the present and the past and continue the story mode.
Just like the other games from the title battles can be manual or automated. Its visual setup resembles many JRPG social games, with mc and villain lined in parallel rows on the screen. A fast-forward function that speeds up the battle, is included too.
A team will comprise of three members and all of their abilities and weapons usage will have a usage cooldown.
Characters may attack, use a unique character skill, or use a skill from their currently equipped weapon. Each character has its stats which can be upgraded by earning points or through in-app purchases.
Strategies include the command timing and the gear setup.
Companions (オトモ) can be obtained through side quests, they are tiny creatures that can be individually leveled up from the main party. You are supposed to equip a companion with every player before battle and their attacks can only be used once in battle.
Other features
The gears include their main weapon, two sub-weapons, three Memories (miscellaneous attributes from character leveling), and one Companion.
Each player has mastered its special weapon according to its compatibility meanwhile noncompatible weapons can be equipped to their substitutes or companions.
The main menu includes a strengthening option here you can upgrade your weapon and gears. The maximum level for a weapon is 40 which unlocks its story. The maximum rarity level is a 4 ⭐rarity.
Apart from the main story, the game includes a story for every character, a dungeon mode, daily missions, and other challenges modes.
These modes can be played but they consume the in-game energy (stamina) which gets filled in due time.
NieR Reincarnation characters list
Here is a list of central characters in the game. Characters archetypes can also be unlocked through in-game purchases (Gacha system).
Main characters
1. Girl of light – a girl who wakes up in a ghost town called “The Cage”. She’s bright and kind but is frightened by nightmares every night.
2. Mama – A mysterious creature who travels around the cage and acts as a guide. She seems to know something about the place.
3. Dark monster – A strange being that wanders The Cage. He doesn’t talk at all but seems to have a hidden motive.
Memory characters
1. The Wanderer – He travels with the clockwork soldier, is kind and witty but trouble always finds its way wherever he goes.
2. Prosthetic hunter – A woman hunter with a prosthetic arm and leg, her story is filled with extreme enmity and hate.
3. The clockwork soldier – A rejected clockwork soldier who rested in silence for a long time. Thanks to the wanderer his will is alive again.
4. The assassin – She is the head of the family of Assassins and a very fearful sword user.
