Genshin Impact is a role-playing action-adventure game developed and published by miHoYo. The game features an open-world environment with an action-based battle system using elemental magic and character-switching. Genshin Impact is free-to-play but employs a gacha game monetization strategy for players to get new characters, weapons, and other resources. You have to have an active internet connection to play Genshin Impact, and up to four players are allowed to play together in multiplayer mode.

In September 2020, Genshin Impact was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Android, and iOS. The PlayStation 5 version was released in April 2021. A Nintendo Switch Port is also repotedly under works.

The game became one of the most successful Mobile games in history, grossing over $1 billion within six months of its release.

Story

Genshin Impact is set in the fantasy world of Teyvat. There are seven distinct nations within the island namely – Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya, each of which is related to a different element and is ruled by a god associated with that element.

The story follows a mysterious character known as the Traveler from a different world. The traveler along with his/her twin has traveled across several worlds. But when they reach Teyvat, the brother-sister duo is attacked by an unknown entity who the traveler later describes as a God. In the Fight one of the siblings gets captured.

The Traveler wakes up on a beach alone with no track of the time and sets on a quest to find the lost twin. On the journey through Teyvat, the traveler is accompanied by a companion named Paimon. Eventually, they become involved in the affairs of the other nations, gods, and the Magical world of Teyvat.

Gameplay

Genshin Impact is an open-world action role-playing game in which players control four characters in a party. While in combat, players can switch between characters at will, which allows them to use various combinations of skills and attacks. As of now, there are 24 playable in the game each with different elemental affinities fighting styles that open up new possibilities and interactions with the environment.

Characters’ strengths can be improved in different ways, such as by increasing a character’s level and improving artifacts and weapons that the character equips.

Players can also complete challenges for rewards in addition to exploration. On Teyvat there are a large number of challenging boss monsters, each rewarded with valuable resources, such as Stormterrors and the Electro Hypostasis, but claiming them displaces a resource called resin. As you complete these challenges and gain experience points, a player’s Adventure Rank will increase, which will give them access to new challenges, quests, and raise their World Level. The World Level indicates how many enemies there are in a world and the rarity of rewards they provide when defeated.

Players can control their characters and perform various actions like running, climbing, swimming, and gliding all of which are limited by stamina. Some characters can alter their environment, such as freezing water to create a path that can aid them in traversing terrain.

Many teleportation points exist throughout the entire game world of Teyvat which can be used to travel quickly from one point to another. Where as statues can be used to heal and revive characters and provide benefits, including boosting player stamina.

Items such as food and ore may be procured from the open world, while enemies and treasure chests drop other types of resources that may be used in enhancing a character’s strength. Players can obtain food from hunting animals, gathering fruit and vegetables, or purchasing them from a store. Ingredients that can be cooked into meals that regenerate characters’ health or boost various statistics.Ore can be refined and then used to enhance weapon strength or create weapons.
