Last week Berserk of Gluttony concluded its first season. It wasn’t able to hit the headlines, but it still impressed its small fanbase and yearning for more!

Berserk of Gluttony Season 2 Release Date

Though Season 1 ended on a conclusive note, still more than half of the story has not been adapted. Fans were seen commenting in favor of a sequel. But as of now, there are no official announcements. But what if Berserk of Gluttony gets a sequel announcement next year? The official release, similar to Season 1, will be broadcast at least six months or later. So we accept Season 2 to drop the soonest by late 2024 or in 2025.

What is Berserk of Gluttony about?

In a world where granted skills determine one’s value, Fate is driven out of society because of his “useless” skill. But after killing a thief, he discovers his real power!

What has happened so far in Berserk of Gluttony?

Fate Graphite, a young man possesses a skill called “ gluttony ” which only makes him hungry. This rather silly and useless skill places him at the bottom of society. He is constantly bullied by Holy Knights but a kind Knight named Roxy Hart is always kind to him. 

Whilst helping Roxy in catching a thief, he ends up killing him. A weird sensation is followed after this killing and surprisingly Fate can read Roxy’s mind on contact. The next day, Fate comes across a sword called “ Greed ”. Greed can communicate with Fate and tell him about the true potential of his skill.

Gluttony allows him to devour other souls and abilities hence not needing to level up. But since the skill goes against the laws of God, he decides to hide it from others. To keep fighting in secret, he takes up a masked disguise named Corpse.

Roxy offers Fate a job at the House of Hart which he accepts. Now working under the Hart family, Roxy and Fate go on a secret inspection about a rumor. Funnily enough, the rumor is about Corpse. Later, Roxy takes on the task of going to Galia and defeating the Divine Dragon. Fate tries to stop her but she is determined to carry on the duty. After defeating Hado Vlerick who was pursuing Corpse, Fate decides to follow Roxy to Galia.

On his way to Galia, he meets a Galian warrior named Myne whom he had previously seen near the Hart lands. Myne tells him about the Mortal Sin Skills that they possess. Traveling together, they meet a former Holy Knight named Aaron Barbatos. 

Aaron teaches his swordsmanship to Fate and together they defeat a crowned monster named  Lich Lord. Before they leave, Aaron requests Fate to come back as he has something important to tell him. 

Upon reaching Babylon, a city in Galia, Fate meets Eris who possesses the Mortal Sin Skill of Lust. Eris discloses that she plans to kill Roxy for the greater good of mankind but Fate denies this and promises to protect Roxy. Soon after, multiple marked enemies target Roxy but Fate in the form of Corpse manages to help her. They work together to defeat three powerful enemies called Chimera. 

Roxy is further targeted by the Divine Dragon. Fate believes this was all done by Eris but a masked man appears who reveals himself to be the skill holder of Envy. To stop Envy, Fate activates a dangerous skill called Domain of E. Though he defeats Envy, he loses his left arm in the process. The battle exposes his true identity to Roxy but she still accepts him and treats him the same.

After a week, Fate finally wakes up. But he leaves with Eris and Myne to prepare for the upcoming dangers. He leaves a letter for Roxy, promising to return one day. In the last moments of the season, he unlocks Greed’s final ultimate which allows him to recover his lost arm. 

What is Berserk of Gluttony based on?

The anime series is based on the ongoing light novel series by Isshiki Ichika. It began its run on November 30, 2017, and is currently being published by Kakuyomu.

At the time of writing, the series has 226 chapters which have been collected into 8 volumes. The series has also been adapted into a manga series, but the show only follows the light novel series.

Berserk of Gluttony Season 1 ended in Chapter 77 called “The End of the Journey”. 

What to expect from Berserk of Gluttony Season 2?

Season 1 has left many expectations and questions! Firstly, during their parting, Aaron requested Fate to come back because he had something important to tell him. What could this important thing be?

Next, since the skills and weapons of the characters are based on the seven deadly sins, we are bound to see more powerful characters! We are yet to see Pride and the whereabouts of Envy are something to wonder about too! 

Next, we saw Rafale get hold of the Philosopher’s Stone. What effect will that have on the story? Will it grant him the immortality he wished to attain? Finally, has Fate reached the limit of his strength? Or will he get stronger? Will Greed also further upgrade?

Berserk of Gluttony can appeal to a large range of fans. It is similar to many other shows while staying original in its way.

Firstly, the storytelling and starting plot are similar to The Rising of the Shield Hero, both heroes are gifted with abilities that look weak but turn out to be extremely strong.

Next, fans of Sword Art Online might also find themselves liking Fate and Roxy as protagonists. They are similar to Kirito and Asuna. The inclusion of the seven deadly sins as characters might appeal to fans of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Even if any of the mentioned shows don’t appeal to you, Berserk of Gluttony has an interesting plot submerged in a world of fantasy which is worth giving a try. The pacing is not sluggish and action occurs quite often.
