After defeating the demon lord, the party of heroes go their separate ways. Frieren returns after fifty years, but to her surprise, everyone has turned much older. The death of Himmel fills Frieren with regret. She wishes that she tried to get to know him better.
Heiter, who is also reaching old age, requests Frieren to tutor Fern. After Heiter’s death, Fern joins Frieren on her journey. Frieren finds notes written by Flamme the Legendary Mage. The notes talk about Aureole, a place where souls rest. Frieren decides to travel to Aureole to meet Himmel.
After Stark joins them, the party visits a fortified city. Frieren senses demons and tries to attack them but is arrested instead. These demons are introduced as “peace envoys”. Eventually, the demons disclose their true plans of attacking the city.
In the 9th episode, Frieren confronts Aura the Guillotine, and her undead army. Fren and Stark battle with the demons left in town. The episode comes to an end as both of them manage to defeat the demons.
