In The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses anime series we see the sweet romance of two high school students, Mie Ai and Komura Kaede.

Since the beginning Mie has had a terrible time remembering to wear her glasses or has managed to break them in some way, making it incredibly difficult for her to do a simple task.

Komura on the other hand initially gives the image of being a typical, thick, and easily humiliated person, but as the story progresses we find out that he is actually very brave for a kid his age combating several uncomfortable situations.

We see the duo navigate their way through various incidents in their daily lives as they grow conscious of their feelings towards each other.

During the trip planned by Komura and Mei’s friends, Mei carelessly brings the wrong glasses making it difficult for her to see. Feeling sad Mei goes elsewhere alone and gets lost.

Komura looks for Mei and brings her back. Mei bursts into tears, and from this episode onwards Mei starts having an intense attraction towards Komura.

We see Komura disappointed as he could not be in the same group as Mei for the home science practical. Mei spends most of the time with Azuma, one of the guys in her group which makes Komura jealous of Azuma.

Despite all the misunderstandings, we see Komura stating that he wants to be Mei’s husband while filling out his school “future plans” form without worrying how cringe it would be to write that.  

Socially awkward  Mei has difficulty understanding the concept of relationships. But with the progress in time, Mei begins to fall for Kaede embarking the beginning of their love story to set in motion.

It began serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker on November 22, 2018.

Later it was published as individual Tankabon volumes starting February 22, 2019.
