09/21/2023 Update: My Happy Marriage Season 2 is now officially confirmed. The announcement came following the broadcast of the 12th and final episode of the first season in Japan.

My Happy Marriage is a fantasy romance anime that follows the life of a young girl and her struggles to find love and happiness. The show has been one of the most popular shoujo series this summer.

In this article, we’ll discuss what new fans can expect from this show. We’ll also share information on the forthcoming episodes and the possible My Happy Marriage season 2.

My Happy Marriage Season 2 Release Date

Can we expect a second season? Yes, because the first season will only cover a portion of the light novels written by Agitogi Akumi.

It is highly expected that My Happy Marriage Season 2 will cover the remaining portions. There are no official announcements yet but we can expect an announcement at the end of 2023 or early 2024.

At the time of writing, the show is still ongoing with its first season. The next episode is set to be released on 13 September 2023 and will be the show’s 11th episode.

A total of 12 episodes are planned for the 1st season with the season finale scheduled to be released on September 20.

Update: An official announcement for Season 2 came just after the 12-episode of the first season. That said an actual release date is yet to be disclosed.

My Happy Marriage Plot

Saimori Miyo, a 19-year-old young lady from the prominent Saimori family is suddenly let go to marry into the Kudou household.

She is forced to accept this decision and in the process is abandoned by her own family who have been treating her poorly for years. 

Miyo is supposed to marry Kudou Kiyoka, a 27-year-old who is the head of the Kuduo family. He has a bad reputation for being cold-hearted and cruel. He rejected all his former fiancees.

These rumors worry Miyo. But upon meeting him, Miyo gets to see Kiyoka’s true nature. Kiyoka, though cold at first, grows fond of Miyo and treats her with utmost care and love.

The care and love give Miyo, the confidence to stand up for herself. 

Happy Marriage Season 1 Breakdown

In the early episodes of Season 1, we get a brief flashback of Miyo’s past. Being abused by her family, Miyo starts to feel like she is a burden and unworthy of happiness But this changes when she meets Kiyoko who accepts Miyo as his fiance.

Miyo meets Kiyoka’s sister, Hazuki who teaches Miyo the customs of being a proper lady. Meanwhile, Kiyoka is secretly finding out about Miyo’s mother’s relation to the Usuba family.

The revelation of the Usuba family’s connection with Miyo becomes the most important part of the story.

Episode 9 reveals that Tsuruki Arata is related to the Usuba family, so the last three episodes will tell us more about Miyo’s past and her relation to the Usuba family. The episode has a tense scene between Miyo and Kiyoka which has left the fans concerned.

Episode 10 introduces the Usuba family to the viewers. The Usuba family puts forward their desire to take in Miyo. They claim that Miyo is valuable to them.

However, Kiyoka opposes their demand as he believes they’re only using Miyo for their self-interest. As a result, Tsuruki Arata challenges Kiyoka to a duel which will decide who gets to keep Miyo.

Kiyoka ends up losing the battle. The episode ends with Kiyoka’s regret for failing to protect Miyo but Hazuki encourages him to bring her back.

Episode 11 will be released on September 13th and is called ” My Mother’s Legacy “. It’ll show us Sumi’s past and why she decided to seal Miyo’s powers.

About the Light Novels

The show has been adapted from the light novel series written by Agitogi Akumi. The light novel series is still ongoing. Agitogi started writing it in 2019 and has so far written 7 volumes.

Agitogi has also written a manga series with the same plot which is also ongoing. The manga has 4 volumes. The anime adaptation is based on the light novel. Episode 9 of the anime ended at the beginning lines of chapter 3 from the second volume.

The second volume has a total of 5 chapters, The final chapter is called “ Truth-Revealing Party ” and is assumed to be the season finale for season 1.

My Happy Marriage Season 2 Expectations

If the anime follows the same pacing as season 1, it is expected that My Happy Marriage season 2 will cover volumes 3 and 4 of the light novel. Volume 1 and 2 had 5 chapters each and was adapted into 12 episodes.

But volumes 3 and 4 have six chapters each so we could observe an increase in the number of episodes. So far the anime has adapted the light novel closely without omitting any essential scene, so it is very unlikely that they’ll skip a chapter to maintain the 12-episode length.

Chapter 1 of Volume 3 is called “ Father-in-law and his invitation ” which directly suggests that in My Happy Marriage Season 2, Miyo and Kiyoka will be meeting Kiyoka’s father and other members of the family.

A lot of viewers have raised their interest in Kiyoka’s past. So with the inclusion of his family, we might get to see that in the coming season.
