He was a genius patissier in his previous life who died in an accident while trying to lift his masterpiece candy statue and got reincarnated as a baby in this new world in the family of a minor feudal lord. 

As Pastry grew up, he contributed to the prosperity of his father’s land through his knowledge of modern farming methods and his strategies to efficiently manage rainwater for irrigation alongside dreaming of fulfilling his desire to create sweets.

Later, Pastry participated in trading and exchange of goods by establishing diplomatic relations with the noble families which showcased the political dynamics in the plot.

Sweet Reincarnation Season 2 Release Date: Will there be a Second Season?

As of now, there are no updates about Sweet Reincarnation Season 2.  Unfortunately, Sweet Reincarnation couldn’t make its place in the top 10 highest-rated anime this season.

There are no official announcements either so there is no way to know if a studio is working on Sweet Reincarnation Season 2.

If a second season of Sweet Reincarnation is made, fans can expect it to come out in late 2024 or early 2025.

What Happens In Sweet Reincarnation?

In the Sweet Reincarnation anime series, we see a famous sweetmaker being reincarnated as Pastry Mille Morteln, the child of a noble feudal lord who aims to revolutionize his kingdom into a land of sweets. 

So when Pastry tries to cultivate sugar cane to make sweets which is considered a luxurious item in this world the family is threatened by bandits.

Afraid, Pastry’s father Casserole decides that Pastry should undergo Sanctification, a religious ceremony conducted by a priest at the church that can unlock one’s magic abilities.

In the ritual, the person has to undergo a lot of pain to discover his/her magic ability.

However, one might get nothing out of sanctification unless certain conditions are met by the person.

Pastry was able to fulfill the requirements of the sanctification, and he received a unique magic power of Replication which allows him to copy objects as well as other people’s magic ability

Pastry’s father Casserole decided that it was best to keep his son’s powers a secret from the world and gave a bag of silver coins to the church as donations. 

However, the greedy priest had ulterior motives. He despises Casserole for earning his lordship through military victories instead of noble birth and decides to sell the information to anyone willing to pay which later makes Pastry a vulnerable target.

With his newfound magic,  Pastry achieved marvelous feats from protecting his village to developing political relationships with noble families all while embarking on a journey with the creation of new sweets.

The first season ends on a happy note as wars between the lands come to an end and Pastry gets awarded with the materials he wanted, enabling him to experiment with different types of ingredients for his delicious sweets.

Sweet Reincarnation Light Novel and Manga

Sweet Reincarnation was originally a light novel series by Nozomu Koryu that was later adapted into Manga written by Midori Tomizawa and illustrated by Seriko Iida.

The light novel was first published in print by TO Books on October 20, 2015, while the Manga series began serialization in the famous Comic Corona manga service 2 years later on December 25, 2017.

As of writing this article the Ongoing Sweet Reincarnation light novel has 24 volumes. The manga on the other hand has completed 9 Tankobon volumes.

Many publication houses today push for an anime series to promote the source material. Given the sales of light novels/manga didn’t increase much, a second is a risky bet.

However, sales of the source material aren’t the only thing that decides whether or not an anime series will be shut down. 

Anime studios make most of their money from the sales of official Blu-rays, Merch and selling distribution, and Streaming rights. On December 22, 2023, a single Blu-ray and DVD BOX set of “Sweet Reincarnation” will go on sale.

There is no official news on which studio will make the show if and when it goes into production.

The first season was produced by SynergySP in collaboration with Studio Comet. Both the studios are currently busy working on various projects 

Provided that season 1 did not create much fandom for the anime series there is a very high possibility that the production team might not want to manage a season 2 of Sweet Reincarnation.

Apart from the Sweet Reincarnation anime series, SynergySP has produced great series like Beyblade Masters, Beyblade Metal Fury, Initial D Final Stage, and many more.
