Great Pretender: Razbliuto Release Date, Plot, Latest News and More

Finally, the popular Great Pretender series is getting a sequel! Though the show concluded, it left room for more with a post-credit scene. The sequel will be following up that post-credit scene and will give us a deeper look into a fan-favorite character, Dorothy!

With only a few weeks left before its release, this article will look into everything that we know about the anime series Great Pretender, while also predicting the upcoming possible events!

Great Pretender: Razbliuto Release Date?

Great Pretender: Razbliuto has already been released in cinemas in the United States on January 9th! But fans in other parts of the world have to wait slightly longer since the movie will be digitally released on 23rd February 2023 on various streaming platforms!

What is Great Pretender About?

A number of tragic events turn Makoto into a con man. Upon meeting another con man named Laurent, he is introduced to a world where the risks are much higher but so is the reward!

What has happened in Great Pretender so far?

Makoto works honestly while looking after his sick mother. But his world comes crashing down when he finds out he has been working for a corrupt company. After his release from prison, he fails to find a job and ultimately loses his mother too. These circumstances turn him to the darker side and he decides to become a con man! The show is divided into four different arcs/missions.

The first arc is called “Los Angeles Connection”.  Makoto tries to con a French man named Laurent but after being conned by Laurent instead he follows Laurent to get back at him. He follows him all the way to Los Angeles where he makes a deal with Laurent.

Laurent explains that they’ll be selling a fake drug to a popular Hollywood director named Eddie Cassano. During this mission, Laurent introduces Makoto to Abigail who is also a con woman.

As the mission is about to come to a close, the proceedings are interrupted by an Elite FBI agent named Paula Dickins who forces Makoto to trap both Eddie and Laurent in exchange for his freedom. But to Makoto’s surprise this FBI agent was fake, she was another con woman named Cynthia working along with Laurent.

The second arc is called “Singapore Sky”. After working with Laurent and others, Makoto decides to go back to living an honest life. He works as a mechanic but turns out the job was set up by Laurent to train him for their next mission.

This time they try to trick Clark and Sam who were former princes but now run an extravagant air race. But this air race is scripted ensuring Clark’s victory. Abigail enters the race as a rookie, while Cynthia tries to win over Sam but is rejected instantly.

To trap Sam, Laurent sets up a betting casino where Sam spends lavishly. This way, Sam manages to earn funds for his race. But in the end, Laurent manages to fabricate the result, making it seem like Clark lost and ends up taking off with all of Sam’s betting money. This arc also takes a look into Abigail’s past.

The third arc is called “Snow of London”. James Coleman, a popular art appraiser is targeted by Laurent and the bunch after Makoto accidentally sells him a painting worth millions.

Cynthia’s ex-partner Thomas Meyer helps them in making an identical copy of the painting. The bunch manages to sell the fake painting for 100 million euros. But in the end, it turns out that Makoto actually sold the original painting because he found Meyer’s painting more valuable.

The fourth arc is called “Wizard of Far East”. Makoto returns to Japan, to start his life anew but he accidentally gets into a human trafficking job led by Suzaku Akemi. He relies on Abigail and others to help him.

With the help of Clark, Abigail pretends to be a princess from the Middle East and is bought by Suzaku. Members of a Chinese mafia visit Suzaku’s company, and frictions are seen between the two groups.

But Makoto is in utter shock when he notices his father, Ozaki, working for the Chinese mafia. Upon confronting his father, they decide to work together to rescue Abigail. But Ozaki betrays Makoto. As a result, Ozaki, Abigail, and Cyntia are shot dead. But it was all a disguise set up by Ozaki and Laurent. We see a flashback of their lives.

We are introduced to Dorothy who in the past had been working alongside Ozaki as a con woman. They offer Laurent to work with them. After completing multiple missions they finally decide to retire. But Dorothy suggests one final gig and they target the Chinese mafia led by Liu.

Dorothy pretends to be a Middle Eastern princess and is sold at a great price. But after being exposed, she is shot to death by Liu’s men. Ozaki takes the blame and gets imprisoned, leaving others in the hands of Laurent.

The flashback explains that Laurent’s meeting with Makoto and everything to the current point was planned. For one last time, Laurent and others work together to trick both Liu and Suzaku. The show comes to an end, as everyone starts new phases in their lives. Makoto decides to live a quiet life.

The post-credit scenes show that Dorothy is still alive and adopted by a Taiwanese family. But she does not remember her past.

What to expect from Great Pretender: Razbliuto?

Great Pretender: Razbliuto is expected to focus primarily on Dorothy. The character list mainly consists of new characters. Dorothy will be seen working along with a new character called Jay Jiang.

Makoto is expected to make an appearance in some form. But it is unsure if other characters from Season 1 will reappear. The point of importance for the movie lies in Dorothy’s memories.

Will she be able to remember her past? If not, what course will her life take along with Jay? If yes, will she be able to reunite with Laurent and others who have finally moved on with their lives?
