What is Skip and Loafer about?

Iwakura Mitsumi, a young fifteen-year-old, leaves her hometown to join a prestigious high school in Tokyo. Far from home, she encounters new people and new experiences. She is　still naive and unfamiliar with city life. It’s the start of a stirring journey as we watch her follow her ambitions.

What happened in Skip and Loafer Season 1?

The show starts with Mitsumi’s arrival in Tokyo. Though well prepared she still gets lost in this new city. Luckily a classmate named Shima Sousuke helps her. After a failed self-introduction she still manages to make new friends. 

Her class starts to prepare for a sports event. Mitsumi realizes she is unathletic and relies on Fumi which strengthens their bond. Sousuke’s past as an actor is revealed but Mitsumi decides to perverse this secret. After visiting the zoo with Sousuke, Mitsumi travels back home for her summer break.

After the summer break, the school prepares for the school festival. Mitsumi fails to help out her classmates on time which upsets her but Sousuke comforts her. Everyone continues to work hard and make the festival a success.

Sousuke’s family and childhood friends’ visit reveals his secret but he manages to accept it positively. The season comes to an end as everyone thanks each other and Mitsumi looks forward to brighter days ahead.

About Skip and Loafer Manga

Skip and Loafer has been written by Takamatsu Misaki. Its serialization began on August 8, 2018. It is still ongoing and updated monthly in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon. So far, The manga has released 9 volumes consisting of 55 chapters and 6 bonus chapters. Season 1 adapted the first 4 volumes which cover up to chapter 23. 

The manga’s 56th chapter will be released around October 26, 2023. With new chapters released every month and 32 unadapted chapters, there is enough content for a second season. 

What to expect from Skip and Loafer Season 2?

Season 1 marked the end of autumn. Season 2 will continue to tell the heartening story of Mitsumi. The first few episodes will probably cover the school year during winter. In school romances, the presence of Christmas and New Year’s often leads to realizations and confessions. We might see Mitsumi and Sousuke confirming their feelings for each other. 

The second season will also include Mitsumi promoting to the second year. Will this bring a major change between the characters, and will new characters be released? Based on the manga, season 2 will also include Valentine’s Day. It’ll be interesting to see how that will affect Mitsumi and Sousuke.
