It’s not often that we get to see an anime plot as unique as Spy x Family. A family of three who all have their secrets, trying to hide them from each other blended with an abundance of comedy and action.

It’s not hard to see why Spy × Family has managed to secure a large fanbase in a short period.

But even after two seasons, much has not been answered by the show and naturally, the fans are looking forward to Season 3 for more. So when will Spy x Family Season 3 Season come out?

Spy x Family Season 3 Release Date

Spy x Family’s first season was released in April 2022. Only four months later we received the second part of the first season. About a year later, the second season was released on October 7, 2023.

Though it is not confirmed, we can confidently say that the show will get a sequel. It is one of the most watched and loved shows in recent memory. Based on the previous release dates, it is safe to assume that Spy x Family will be released by October 2024 if not sooner.  

What is Spy x Family about?

In an attempt to stop a war, Loid, a spy, adopts a girl who can read minds. He also marries a woman who is an assassin. But unaware of each other’s secrets, this family continues to grow from a fabricated family to an actual family.

What happened in Spy x Family Seasons 1 and 2?

Twilight, a phenomenal spy, takes on the disguise of Loid Forger to accomplish Operation Strix. The operation requires him to build a new family and ultimately keep track of Donovan Desmond, the antagonist of the show. Loid meets Anya at an orphanage and adopts her. 

Little did Loid know that Anya has a superpower that lets her read the minds of others. Soon after, Loid meets Yor and they agree to form a fake marriage that will benefit both of them.

Anya’s mind-reading abilities allow her to find out her parent’s true occupations. But she feels excited instead of feeling scared. In order to continue Operation Strix, Anya joins Eden Academy. Loid suggests Anya to become friends with Donovan’s son Damian but instead, she ends up punching him in their first interaction. 

Anya trains with Yor to get the first Stellar Star during a sports event. But they ended up losing. Later, Anya uses her telepathic powers to save a drowning boy which helps her get her first Stellar Star.

As a reward for the Stellar Star, the Forger family decides to get a dog. Anya ends up meeting a dog who can see the future, with the help of the dog she helps Loid in his mission. They decide to adopt this dog and call it “Bond”. 

A few events later, Loid’s colleague, Fiona is revealed to be a fellow agent. Annoyed by the delays in Operation Strix, she decides to replace Yor! But ultimately gives up when she realizes Yor fits perfectly in this family. In the last episode of Season 1, Loid meets Donovan at Eden Academy. 

Season 2 puts the focus on Yor. She is assigned a mission to protect the Gretcher family on a cruise ship. Coincidentally, Anya and Loid also end up on the same ship after winning a lottery. Yor discovers that multiple assassins are after the Gretcher family. These assassins attack them but she manages to deal with all of them.

In one instance, Yor ends up in a public duel but Anya tricks the crowd into thinking that it is a circus act and hence protecting Yor’s cover. Initially, Yor is constantly concerned about her secret being exposed to her family or her dying and leaving them behind. But ultimately she resolves to fight regardless of what happens because she believes Loid will understand her.

In the 9th episode, with the hidden help of Anya, Yor manages to defeat the assassins and protect the Gretcher family. The episode comes to an end as Yor bids them goodbye and the Forger family goes back to their usual life.

About Spy x Family Manga

The Spy x Family is a manga series written by Tatsuya Endo. The manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ since March 25, 2019. The series has a total of 12 volumes so far.

Season 1 Part 1 ended in Chapter 17. Season 1 Cour 2 ended in Chapter 38. Season 2 Episode 9 ended on Chapter 55. It is expected that Season 2 will end at Chapter 57 while also covering some previous bonus chapters that weren’t adapted.

What to Expect from Spy x Family 3?

Season 3 will be covering the events after the Cruise Adventure Arc. We’ll get a look into Loid’s past and how he ended up becoming a spy. A menacing teacher will appear at Eden Academy which will cause trouble for Anya and friends.

Yor will also accidentally make an unlikely but useful friendship. Further troubles will occur at Anya’s school as they’ll be attacked by a group of terrorists.

The last three prequels of Spy x Family have been a joint effort between Wit Studio and Cloverworks. The studios have managed to have a steady production avoiding any delays.

Considering how well-received and popular the show is, it is mostly unlikely that it’ll go under a studio change. Wit Studio has also been behind animating some popular shows like Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga.

Cloverworks has animated several popular shows like The Promised Neverland and Horimiya.
